Inspecting connecting rod large-end bearings
Inspect each bearing shell for flaking, scratching, sei-
zure, pitting, and other defects. If any defects are
found, replace the shell.
Measuring connecting rod end play
Install the connecting rod to its crank pin, then tighten
its cap bolts to the specified torque. Use feeler gaug-
es to measure the end play. If the end play exceeds
the service limit, replace the connecting rod.

Weight difference of connecting rods in an engine
When replacing connecting rods, make sure that the
weight difference of connecting rods in an engine is
within the assembly standards below.

directions 3, 4 and 5 and at front and rear positions 1
