The FB terminals are enabled to establish connection for the Streaming IP deata service
provided and for 2 or more connections for Streaming IP data.
The actual data rate and maximum number of Streaming IP data connections varies and
depends upon the type of terminal used, link conditions, available capacity an elevation
to the satellite.

3. Circuit-Switched Data Service (Circuit Switching Service)

The Circuit Switching service is available as long as the FB terminal is registered in the
FB network, and data connection can be initiated from either the vessel or from the
ground.
1) ISDN
The FB network supports the ISDN Circuit Switching (UDI/RDI) data sent from /
received by the mobile stations at 64 kbps.
- Class 9 (FELCOM-250) does not support ISDN.
- Class 8 (FELCOM-500) alone can use both the ISDN service and the Standard
IP data service at the same time, but it cannot use both the ISDN service and the
256 kbps Streaming IP data service at the same time.
2) 3.1 kHz Audio
When in class 9 (FELCOM-250), the service will not be supported when
Eelevation is less than 20 degrees.
The ISDN service and the 3.1 kHz Audio service cannot be used at the same time.
In order to support the users of the conventional modem and FAX equipments, FB
provides PCM-coded 3.1 kHz Audio via the bearer for 64 kbps.
This service is used for sending and receiving audio data, FAX data, or data using
conventional modems that require ground PSTN or ISDN / PCM encoding.

4. Voice and Message Service

1) Direct Dial Voice Service (4 k AMBE+2)
FB provides direct dialing phone call service using the compression technology (4
k AMBE+2 codec: AMBE+2 audio codec is a toll-quality, full duplex, real-time
audio compression software developed by DVSI), and delivers audio by encoding
the audio data at 4 kbps. This service is available at all FB terminals.
When making phone calls, both the Standard IP data Service and the Streaming IP
data Service can be used at the same time. The functions available for the audio
service are as listed below;
Transmitting and Receiving: On land Network, Mobile Network, between FB
terminals
Available concurrently with data communication
Added values supported: Voice-mail , caller ID notifying service, call on hold,
call standby, forward call, reject call, speed dialing
