PoE

PoE is the abbreviation for "Power over Ethernet", and is the technology for providing
power to the connected equipments by providing data and power to the LAN cable
(CAT.5.) (IEEE802.3af)
The technology is categorized into several classes based on the supplied power.
Power class
Class 0
Class 1
Class 2
Class 3
There are 2 types of power supply methods; Type-B which uses the 4 pins not used by
the LAN cable, and Type-A where the power is provided by sharing the data line.
Type-A : Power supplied between number 1, 2 (TX+/-) and number 3, 6
(RX+/-)
Type-B : Power supplied between number 4, 5 (vacant pair) and number 7, 8
(vacant pair)
The LAN port for FELCOM-250/500 is of the PoE specification, and power is supplied
via the LAN to the Handsets and Incoming indicator which are units supporting PoE.
If you intend to connect the LAN for the Handsets or Incoming indicators via a SW
HUB, make sure to use a SW HUB of the PoE specification.
The PoE specification for FELCOM-250/500 is that of Type B, and the maximum
power provided is 48 V/30.8 W (total for 4 ports).
The Handsets are of Class-2 and supports both Type-A and B
The Incoming indicator is of Class-1 and supports Type-B only
Thus, when connecting Handsets to an External SW HUB, the SW HUB specification
can be of either Type-A or B. When you wish to connect an Incoming indicator, make
sure select one of Type-B.
