Provisioning and Configuration Guide SoundPoint IP 200W

Firmware Files

Note
Note
3 - 12
For example, a SoundPoint IP 200W gateway with 3 handsets will take:
Gateway = 5 minutes
Handset 1 = 12 minutes
Handset 2 = 12 minutes
Handset 3 = 12 minutes
Total Upgrade time = 41 minutes
Handsets are upgraded serially at a speed of 24Kbps. Gateway firmware size
is approximately 925Kb and handset firmware size is approximately 794Kb.
Schedule upgrades at off-peak hours to avoid user downtime during long
upgrade times.
A firmware version consists of a handset and a gateway file. There are:
Handset file—PerePP_<language>_<ver-info>.fwu
For example, PerePP_fr01_v0790.fwu
Gateway file: PereGw_<language>_<ver-info>.fwu
For example, PereGw_fr01_v0790.fwu
Release information and address information is published in a text file
dirlist.txt, which must be placed in the same folder as the firmware files.
By default, the phone requests its firmware files from <ROOT></Updates>/.
You may not see an English file in the list of firmware files. English is embedded in
every language file so that it is easy to switch back to without loading new firmware.
The German file is loaded by default.
For example, the folders could be
E:\TFTP-Root\Data\Updates\
E:\TFTP-Root\Data\Updates\UserGroup1\
For example, the folder content could be
DirList.txt
PereGw_fr01_v0790.fwu
PerePP_fr01_v0790.fwu
If you are using a TFTP server, your file path may require a leading forward slash.
Enable logging on your TFTP server so you can determine this easily. Some TFTP
servers have a file path limit of 32 characters. In this case, you will have to ensure
your path name stays within those limits.
