Symptom
Gateway cannot get IP address
from DHCP.
The phone is searching for a
gateway.
Problem
The network cabling may be
incorrect.
The gateway could be rebooting
and should be back up within 60
seconds.
The phone is looking for a
gateway to connect to but can
not find an available gateway.
Troubleshooting Your SoundPoint IP 200W Phones
Corrective Action
Ensure that the network cabling is plugged
in securely.
Ensure that the Ethernet port that you
have the gateway plugged into is auto-
negotiate 100Mbps.
The SoundPoint IP 200W will retry a
DHCP request in the following interval:
1.
Send DHCP request
2.
Wait 2 seconds
3.
Send 2nd DHCP request
4.
Wait 4seconds
5.
Send 3rd DHCP request
6.
Wait 8 seconds
7.
Send 4th DHCP request
8.
Wait 16 seconds
9.
Send 5th DHCP request
10. Wait 32 seconds
11. Send 6th DHCP request
12. Wait 64 seconds
13. Send 7th DHCP request
14. Wait 64 seconds
15. Display DHCP error
16. Wait 500 seconds and restart
If DHCP offer is received on any point
before step 15, the startup is successful
and execution leaves the algorithm.
A gateway will only synchronize up to 5
minutes from when it was restarted. In
order to re-synchronize a phone to the
gateway, you must press the reset button
on the back of the gateway, and then
select System settings > Handset
settings > Deregister handset. This will
automatically deregister the handset from
any existing gateway and resynchronize it
to the one you have just reset.
