Valve Clearance Adjustment
Caution
The valve clearance should be adjusted
when the engine is cold. (Under 35
degrees Celsius)
Remove the valve clearance-adjusting cap (2
bolts).Remove the cylinder head side cover (2
bolts).
Remove the timing inspection cap and the
AC.G cap on the crankcase L cover.
Use a T socket wrench to rotate the
crankshaft counterclockwise. Align the "T"
mark on the AC.G flywheel with the crankcase
sign, and simultaneously, the cam- chain
sprocket TDC mark aligning with the cylinder
head mark (That means the piston is in the
upper end of compression stroke)
Valve clearance inspection and
adjustment
Check the intake and exhaust valve clearance
by inserting the feeler gauge between the
adjusting screw and the lock nut.
Valve clearance:IN / EX 0.12±0.02 mm
Adjust by loosening the lock nut first, and
turning the adjusting screw until you feel slight
drag on the feeler gauge.
Hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock
nut.
Caution
Check the valve clearance after the
adjustment.
Install the valve clearance-adjusting cap,
cylinder head side cover, and the timing
inspection cap and the AC.G cap on the
crankcase L cover.
Caution
Before installing the O-ring, check if the
O-ring is damaged, and apply some oil on
it to prevent damage during assembly.
