Warning
Seat belts must always be worn. The
airb ag system serves to supplement the
three-point seat belts.
If y ou do not w ear your seat belt, y ou risk
being seriously injured, or even thrown
from the vehic le, in the ev ent of an
accident.
If an accident occurs, the belt helps to
maintain the correct seat position that
is required for the airbag system
to prov ide y ou with effectiv e protection.
In add ition, the airbag system will not be
triggered for the passenger in versions with
seat occupancy recognition if:
z the passenger's sea t is unoccupied .

Control i nd icator v for airbag systems
The opera tion of the airbag systems is
monitored electronica lly together with
seat occupancy recognition a nd the
belt tensioners and is indicated by control
indica tor v.
When the ignition is switched on, the
control indicator flashes for approx.
5 seconds. If it does not flash, does not go
out a fter 5 seconds or illuminates while
driving, there is a fault in the airba g
sy stems, the seat occupancy recognition or
the belt tensioners – see also pages 41, 48.
The system s may fail to d eploy in the event
of an accident.
