Brake system

The effectiveness of the brakes is an
important factor for traffic sa fety.
To improve effectiveness, d o not brake
unnecessarily hard for the first 200 k m
(120 miles) a fter new brake pads have
been fitted .
Brake pad wea r must not exceed a
spec ified limit. R egular ma intena nce as
detailed in the chapter "Service,
Maintenance" on pag e 165 is therefore of
the utm ost importance for traffic safety.
Hav e w orn b ra ke p ads replaced by a
workshop. Pads which have been tested
and a pproved ensure optimum b ra ke
performa nc e.
Brake pad s that hav e worn to their
minimum thickness generate a grinding
noise. C ontinued driving is possible.
Hav e the brake pads replaced as soon
as possible by a workshop.
