Fault
If the remote control d oes not op erate
correctly , it may be due to the follow ing:
z The range of the rem ote control has
been ex ceeded.
z Remote control b attery v olta ge is too
low. See " Rem ote control battery
replacement".
z Freq uent, rep eated opera tion of the
remote control outside the reception
ra nge of the vehicle (e.g. too far from the
vehicle, rem ote control is then no longer
recognised). S ee "Radio remote control
synchronisation".
z Overloa ding the centra l locking system
by operating at frequent intervals. The
power supply m ay be interrupted for a
short time. The system is p rotected by a
fuse in the fuse box – see page 141.
z Interference from higher-power radio
waves from other sources.
To eliminate the cause of the fault, consult
a w orkshop.
O pen driver's door with key - see page 26.
Rem ote control b attery rep lacement
Replace the battery in a ccord ance with the
cha pter " Servic e, M aintenance" on
page 165 or w hen the range of the remote
control begins to decrease.
Open rem ote c ontrol by inserting a suitable
screwdriver into the notc h below
button U and prise apart the two halves
of the rem ote control.
Loc ks, do ors, windo ws
Remove used b attery, tak ing ca re to avoid
touching any of the circ uitry.
Replace battery - battery type, see
pag e 181 - ensuring the new b attery is
insta lled correctly with positiv e (+) side
facing up.
C lose remote control.
Mak e sure that you dispose of old batteries
in accordance with env ironmental
protec tion regulations.
Ra dio remote control synchronisation
After c hanging the battery , unlock the
door with the key in the lock. Inserting the
key in the ignition switch synchronises the
remote control.
