Self-help, vehicle care
Top up with the sam e b rand of engine
oil that was used d uring the previous
engine oil change, following the
instructions in the chapter " Serv ice,
Maintenance" on page 165.
To close, p osition the cap and screw it
into place.
Ca pacities – see p age 182.
Engine oil c hange, engine oil filter c hange
Perform change in accordance w ith the
cha pter " Servic e, M aintenance" on
page 165.
Engine oil c hanges are to b e ca rried out
depending on time or kilometre/mileage
intervals, or when the engine oil life monitor
indica tes that engine oil life has been
diminished , since eng ine oil loses its
lubrication properties not only through
engine operation but also through ageing .
We rec om mend using an original O pel
engine oil filter.

Warning
Empty engine oil cans m ust not be placed
in the domestic refuse. We rec om mend
that you entrust engine oil and engine oil
filter changes to a workshop who is
familiar with the legal requirem ents
concerning the disposal of used engine
oil and filters, a nd can thus help protect
the environment and your health.
Remember to reset the engine oil life
monitor whenever the engine oil is
cha ng ed. Seek the assistance of a
work shop.
Coolant
During operation the sy stem is pressurized.
The tem perature may therefore rise to ov er
100 ° C.
The glycol-based coolant p rov id es
excellent corrosion protection for the
hea ting and cooling sy stems as well a s
antifreeze protection down to –28 °C. It
remains in the cooling sy stem throug hout
the yea r and need not be changed.
Use of certain antifreez es can lead to
eng ine damage. We therefore recommend
the use of antifreezes tha t ha ve been
app rov ed.

Antifreeze is a danger to health; it m ust
therefore be kept in the original container
and out of the reach of children.
