Vehicle decomm issioning

O bserve na tional regulations.
If the vehicle is decomm issioned for several
months, the follow ing work must be ca rried
out by a workshop in order to prevent
dam age.
z Wash and preserve the vehicle –
see pa ge 161.
z Check preserv ation in engine
com partment a nd on underbody a nd
make good where nec essary .
z Clean and preserv e rubber seals on
bonnet and doors.
z Change engine oil – see page 154.
z Check antifreeze and c orrosion
protection – see page 155.
z Check the coolant lev el, top up with
antifreeze if necessary – see page 155.
z Empty windsc reen w asher sy stem.
z Inc rease tyre pressures to v alue specified
for full load – see page 180.
Vehicle storag e
z Park v ehicle in a dry, well ventilated
place. Engage first or reverse gear. Use
chocks or the lik e to prevent the vehicle
from rolling .
z Do not apply hand brake.
z Disconnect battery by disengaging
neg ativ e terminal from vehicle electrical
system – see page 159.

Vehicle recommissioning

O bserve national regulations.
Perform the following work before
recommissioning the vehicle:
z Connect ba ttery – see page 159.
z Check tyre pressures and correct if
necessary – see page 180.
z Fill up w indscreen washer system –
see page 72.
z Check engine oil level – see p age 153.
z Check the coolant level; top up with
antifreeze if necessary – see page 155.
Fit the license plate if necessary.
