22. Carelully pry the piston seal ring and O-ring off the
prslon rack.
CAUTION| Be caletul not to damage the inside of
seal ring groove and piston edges when removing
the seal rin9,

23. Eefore removing the valve housing, apply vinyl tape
to splines of the pinion shaft.
24. Separate the valve housing from the pinion shaft/
valve using a press.

Check the inner wall of the valve housing where the
seal ring slides with your finger. lf there is a step in
t h e w a l l , t h e v a l v e h o u s i n g i s w o r n . R e p l a c e t h e
valve housing.
NOTE:
T h e r e m a y b e t h e s l i d i n g m a r k s f r o m t h e s e a l
r i n g o n t h e w a l l o f t h e v a l v e h o u s i n g . R e p l a c e
the valve housing only if the wall is stepped.
When the valve housing is replaced, jnstall new
shim(s) on the bearing surface of the housing to
adjust the thickness.

whether the wall is stepped.
