700 Series Monochrome Mobile Computer User's Manual
"Bluetooth" is the name given to a technology standard using short-range
radio links, intended to replace the cables connecting portable and fixed
electronic devices. The standard defines a uniform structure for a wide
range of devices to communicate with each other, with minimal user ef-
fort. Its key features are robustness, low complexity, low power, and low
cost. The technology also offers wireless access to LANs, the mobile phone
network, and the internet for a host of home appliances and portable
hand-held interfaces.
When installed on your 700 Monochrome Computer, you can access the
Bluetooth Device Manager application and BTctrl program from the Sys-
tem Tray via the Today screen. Both icons are circled in the following il-
lustration.
Tap the Bluetooth icon for the Bluetooth Device Manager application to
configure your local Bluetooth properties, manage discovered Bluetooth
devices, and set favorite Bluetooth devices for remote connections.
Tap the BTctrl icon for the BTctrl program, which handles powering the
Bluetooth module and loading the Bluetooth stack on boot and following
a suspend/resume. BTctrl is not an application used on a daily basis, but
you may need to refer to it from time to time.
You can also access the BT control application by tapping Start → Pro-
grams → the BT Control icon.

Documentation

Information about additional Bluetooth software, including the Bluetooth
Device Manager and the BTctrl program, can be found within the Wire-
less Printing SDK. This is located on the 700 Monochrome Software Tools
CD, via the "\Wireless Printing SDK" directory off the root of the toolkit.
It also can be found in the Wireless Printing Development Guide, also on
