700 Series Monochrome Mobile Computer User's Manual

GPRS

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is the high-speed data evolution of
GSM that supports Internet Protocol (IP), enabling access to Internet and
intranet content and applications from GPRS wireless devices.
The WAN radio CORE module displays helpful information about the
Motorola G18 GPRS radio option built into your 700 Series Computer.
Note: See page 98 for information on loading this module in CORE.
WAN Radio CORE Module — General
Below are descriptions and meanings for each piece of information pro-
vided via the General tab. Note that the information is listed alphabetically.
S Connected to:
This indicates the network server to which this radio module is con-
nected, such as "USA–770" or lists "Unavailable" if the information
cannot be read from the radio.
S Network Type:
This would list "GSM 900," "GSM1800," or "GSM1900" for the Mo-
torola G18 GPRS tri-band radio module,.
S PIN Status:
This lists what Personal Identification Number (PIN) is attached to this
radio module, whether the SIM card is "Ready," or lists "Unavailable" if
information cannot be read from the radio.
S Radio Type:
This identifies the type of radio in this unit, such as "Motorola g18" or
lists "Unavailable" if the information cannot be read from the radio.
S RSSI:
This displays the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) frequency
or lists "Unavailable" if there is no signal or the signal cannot be re-
trieved from the radio module.
