Fault table

Notes:
All the possible faults which can be re-
cognised by the control unit and displayed
by the vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552, are
listed in the table on the basis of the 5-digit
fault code.
Ignore the SAE code which may be displayed
on the right next to the fault code number.
If „Info in literature“ appears in the display at
the vehicle system tester, look for the text

Self-Diagnosis
you require in the fault table on the basis of
the fault code.
If components are displayed as faulty, first
of all test all the cables and plug connections
to these components, as well as the earth
connections on the basis of the current flow
diagram. Replace the component only if this
inspection also does not reveal any fault. This
applies in particular to faults which are shown
as being sporadic (SP).
Possible cause of fault
If „No fault recognised!“ appears after completing repairs,
self-diagnosis is ended.
Faulty supply voltage (must be within
range of 10.5...16 V)
Voltage regulator or alternator faulty
Battery discharged or faulty
Voltage regulator or alternator faulty
Cables or plug connections faulty
Sender faulty
Cables or plug connections faulty
Rectifying fault
- Test wiring, plug connections and
fuses according to CFD

- Test supply voltage
- Test voltage regulator or alternator

- Charge battery or replace
- Test voltage regulator or alternator

- Replace sender -G215-
- Test wiring, plug connections and
fuses according to CFD
