Zero marks
Zero marks serve as reference signal for incremental encoders. The following zero signals
can be selected for your encoder:
● No zero mark
● Equidistant zero marks (evaluate several zero marks)
– The number of pulses between the two equidistant zero marks are displayed at "Zero
– At "Number of zero marks", enter how many zero marks you want to evaluate.
● Irregular zero marks
Select this option if you do not want to evaluate the zero marks at each revolution, i.e.
you want to evaluate them irregularly.
● Distance-coded zero marks (Page 429)
Gear ratio / measuring gearbox
Gearboxes or measuring gearboxes are relevant only for some motor types, e.g. for 1FW3
torque motors. The gear ratio is the ratio of encoder revolutions (p0432) to the number of
motor or load revolutions (p0433) and is also termed the transmission ratio.
This information is contained in the motor data sheet.

Resolver

Description
Resolvers are rotary encoders that supply an absolute signal within a pole pitch. Therefore,
resolvers do not have to be homed.
In principle, a resolver is made up of two components:
● Two stator windings offset by 90°
● One rotor
