8.1 General specifications
Note
Dimensioning of fuses in higher-level plant circuits
A fuse with a fuse rating according to the "Input current" row of the previous table is
integrated in the power supply unit of the IPC. Pulse currents during startup are also taken
into consideration due to the "time-lag" fuse type. In the case of a fault, this fuse ensures the
correct separation of the device from the power supply.
We recommend dimensioning the fuse of the higher-level power supply circuit with at least
the internal fuse rating of the IPC plus the power requirements of the other devices supplied
via this circuit. The tripping characteristic of the higher-level fuse must hereby take into
consideration the starting currents of the IPC and those of the other devices.
