CHECKING THE OIL COOLER

1. Check:
• Oil cooler
Cracks/damage
• Oil cooler fins
Obstruction
Clean.
Apply compressed air to the rear of the oil
cooler.
Damage
Repair or replace.
TIP
Straighten any flattened fins with a thin, flat-head
screwdriver.
2. Check:
• Oil cooler inlet hose
• Oil cooler outlet hose
Cracks/damage/wear

INSTALLING THE OIL COOLER

1. Install:
• Oil cooler "1"
• O-ring
New
• Oil cooler bolt (upper) "2"
• Oil cooler bolt (lower) "3"
• Radiator bolt "4"
TIP
Apply lithium-soap-based grease to the O-ring.
Replace.
Replace.
2. Tighten:
• Oil cooler bolt (upper) "2"
Oil cooler bolt
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
3. Tighten:
• Oil cooler bolt (lower) "3"
Oil cooler bolt
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
4. Tighten:
• Radiator bolt "4"
Radiator bolt
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
5. Fill:
• Crankcase
(with the specified amount of the recom-
mended engine oil)
Refer to "CHANGING THE ENGINE OIL" on
page 3-30.
6. Measure:
• Engine oil pressure
Refer to "MEASURING THE ENGINE OIL
PRESSURE" on page 3-31.
