Replacing the PowerCard

The motor-side inverter consists of one or two parallel-connected power units depending on
its configuration. In the power unit, the power semiconductor modules (IGBT and neutral
diodes), gating boards, and balancing resistors are arranged on PowerCards.
NOTICE
Replacing individual IGBT blocks
If the series connection number N=2 (each phase comprises 5 PowerCards), the IGBT
modules for voltage division are connected in series. It is necessary to replace these IGBT
modules connected in series in pairs. The IGBT modules may malfunction if this is not
complied with.
Replace the defective modules as associated pair. Return the pair for repair. A pair of IGBT
modules that belong together is provided in the corresponding spare parts packages (for
example Ax1+Ax2 or Ax3+Ax4).
Note
Simple measuring instruments are not capable of determining whether the IGBT or the gating
board of a module is defective.
As a consequence, always replace the complete module.
