Replacing the PowerCard

The motor-side inverter consists of one or two parallel-connected power units depending on its
configuration. In the power unit, the power semiconductor modules (IGBT and neutral diodes),
gating boards, and balancing resistors are arranged on PowerCards.
NOTICE
Malfunction caused by replacing individual IGBT blocks
For a number of IGBTs connected in series N=2, each phase comprises 5 PowerCards. The
IGBT modules are connected in series to distribute the voltage. It is necessary to replace
these IGBT modules connected in series in pairs. If you do not carefully take this into
consideration, then the IGBT modules may malfunction.
● Replace the defective modules as associated pair. Return the pair for repair. A pair of IGBT
Note
Simple measuring instruments are not capable of determining whether the IGBT or the gating
board of a module is defective. As a consequence, always replace the complete module.
