136 Configuring a 2350 Switch for a Branch Office

Accessing the CLI

Initial configuration of the WSS requires a connection to the switch's CLI through the serial console port.
To connect a PC to the serial console port:

Insert the serial cable into the PC port.

Insert the other end of the cable into the serial console port on the 2350 switch.

Start a standard VT100 terminal emulation application on the PC, and configure the following
modem settings:

9600 bps
●
8 bits
●
1 stop
●
No parity
●
Hardware flow control off or disabled

Open a connection on a serial port.

Press Enter three times to display a command prompt:

Note.
number and also contains the last three octets of the switch's MAC address. For
example, the default command prompt on an 2350 switch with MAC address
00:0B:0E:00:04:0B is 2370-00040B>.
