SNMP messages
The SNMP messages used for communication between the SNMP management agent
(HiPath 1100) and the external applications are controlled by the following commands:
Get, used when the manager requests the agent to obtain data.
●
Get Next, used when the manager requests the agent to obtain a sequential reading of
●
data.
Set, used when the manager requests the agent to alter an item of data.
●
Trap, used by the agent to communicate a previously defined event to the manager.
●
There is an integrated mechanism to manage SNMP "traps" if a class B error occurs. The
SNMP management agent assesses the error messages, and if they have a corresponding
definition, certain "traps" are put into place sent as groups of data to a configurable IP address.
A maximum of five applications are available that support SNMP version 1.0, such as the HP
Open View.
This option will only be active in HiPath 1100 Manager if the SLIMC, SADSLIM,
LIMC or ADSLIM modules are configured.
