Troubleshooting
If the machine does not operate correctly, check for the following points/issues before requesting service.
If the suggested remedy does not correct the problem, contact your authorized Brother dealer.
Symptom
The machine is not turned on.
The embroidery
The machine has not been unlocked.

The "Start/Stop" button was not

The needle set screw is loose.
The needle is bent or blunt.
The area around the embroidery foot
hole is damaged.
The bobbin or bobbin case are not
correctly installed.
The needle breaks.
The upper thread is not threaded
correctly.
The upper thread is catching
somewhere.
The upper thread tension is set too
high. It does not run.
The area around the hole in the needle
plate is damaged.

Probable Cause

Remedy
Turn on the embroidery machine.
Touch the unlock key.
With the machine unlocked, press the
"Start/Stop" button.
Correctly install the needle.
Use the Allen screwdriver to securely
tighten the needle set screw.
Replace the needle with a new one.
Replace the presser foot.
Consult your nearest authorized
Brother dealer.
Remove and reinstall bobbin and
bobbin case.
Pull the upper thread by hand from
below the presser foot, and check that
the thread moves smoothly. If the
thread does not move, it is not threaded
correctly. Thread the upper thread
correctly. Make sure the thread is
caught by the needle bar thread guide.
Decrease the upper thread tension and
make sure tension disc rotates when
pulling on thread.
Replace the needle plate.
Consult your nearest authorized
Brother dealer.
