Installing the Printer Driver
This section explains how to install the printer driver.
When connecting this machine to a computer that is running Windows Vista, we
recommend you use the Standard TCP/IP port. Use the following procedure to
install the printer driver for connection via Standard TCP/IP port.
Important
❒ To install a printer driver under Windows Vista, you must have an account
that has Manage Printers permission. Log on as an Administrator.
❒ You can connect to the printer only if both the printer and computer are on
the same network segment, or Windows Vista "Network discovery" is en-
abled. For details, see Windows Help.

On the [Start] menu, click [Control Panel].

In "Hardware and Sound", click [Printer].

On the menu bar, click [Add a printer].

Click [Add network, wireless, and bluetooth printer].
The printer search begins automatically.

Select the printer model you want to install, and then click [Next].

Click [Have Disk...].

Insert the "Printer Drivers and Utilities" CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
If Auto Run starts, click [Cancel], and then [Exit].

Click [Browse...], and then specify a location for the printer driver.
If the CD-ROM drive is D, the source files of the printer driver are stored in
the following location:
• RPCS
D:\DRIVERS\RPCS\XP_VISTA\(Language)\DISK1
• PCL5C
D:\DRIVERS\PCL5C\XP_VISTA\(Language)\DISK1
• PCL6
D:\DRIVERS\PCL6\XP_VISTA\(Language)\DISK1

Select the Setup Information file for the printer driver you want to install,
and then click [Open].

Click [OK].

Select the printer model you want to install, and then click [Next].
