When installing:

Note:
Cylinder head gasket can be reused more than
once: install with wording on top.
•
Tighten collar nuts in diagonally opposite se-
quence, using socket insert, BMW No. 11 7 541.
X
Tightening torque:
Collar nut ................................................ 30 ±1 Nm
Screw........................................................... 10 Nm

Checking cylinder dimensions

Wear values:
Measuring planes:
1 90° to piston-pin axis
2 60° to piston-pin axis
3 120° to piston-pin axis
Difference ....................... max. 0.02 mm (0.0008 in)
Remove cylinder head
Slightly raise cylinder.
Use a cloth to protect conrod and housing bore
against damage.
Raise cylinder clear of piston.
