STEERING HEAD INSPECTION
3.Check:
Handlebar assembly
G
Grasp the handlebar and gently rock the
steering.
Looseness → Adjust the handlebar.
Steering assembly bearings
G
Grasp the bottom of the lower front fork
tubes and gently rock the fork assembly.
Looseness → Adjust the steering head.
4.Adjust:
Steering head
G
5.Remove:
Handlebar
G
Pinch bolt
G
Steering stem nut
G
Handle crown
G
6.Adjust:
Steering head
G

Adjustment steps:
Remove the lock washer 1, the upper ring
G
nut 2, and the rubber washer 3.
Loosen the lower ring nut 4 and then tighten
G
it to specification with a ring nut wrench 5.
NOTE:
Set the torque wrench at a right angle to the
ring nut wrench.
Loosen the lower ring nut 4 completely,
G
then tighten it to specification.
Do not overtighten the lower ring nut.

Steering nut wrench:
90890-01403
Lower ring nut (initial tightening
torque):
48 Nm (4.8 m • kg)
WARNING
Lower ring nut (final tightening
torque):
18 Nm (1.8 • kg)
