DO−IT−YOURSELF MAINTENANCE: Introduction
CAUTION
When jacking, be sure to observe the
following to reduce the possibility of
death or serious injury:
When using a floor jack, follow the
D
instructions of the manual provided
with the jack.
Do not put any part of your body
D
under the vehicle supported by the
floor jack. Always use floor jack
and/or automotive jack stand on a
solid, flat, level surface. Personal
injury may occur.
Do not start or run the engine while
D
your vehicle is supported by the
floor jack.
Stop the vehicle on a level firm
D
ground, firmly set the parking brake
and put the transmission in "P"
(automatic transmission or Multidri-
ve) or reverse (manual transmis-
sion). Block the wheels on the op-
posite side of the floor jack up
point if necessary.
Make sure to set the floor jack
D
properly in the jack point. Raising
the vehicle with floor jack improper-
ly positioned will damage the ve-
hicle or may allow the vehicle to
fall off the floor jack and cause
personal injury.
Never get under the vehicle when
D
the vehicle is supported by the
floor jack alone; use vehicle sup-
port stands.
Do not raise the vehicle with some-
D
one in the vehicle.
When raising the vehicle, do not
D
place any objects on top of or un-
derneath the floor jack.
