ENGINE (IGNITION) SWITCH, TRANSMISSION AND PARKING BRAKE
Automatic transmission (4−speed)
Shift with the brake pedal depressed.
(Vehicles without smart entry and
start system—The engine switch must
be in the "ON" position./Vehicles with
smart entry and start system—The
"ENGINE START STOP" switch must
be in IGNITION ON mode.)
Shift normally.
Your automatic transmission has a shift
lock system to minimize the possibility of
incorrect operation. This means you can
only shift out of "P" position when the
brake pedal is depressed (with the engine
switch [vehicles without smart entry and
start system] is set at the "ON" position
or the "ENGINE START STOP" switch [ve-
hicles with smart entry and start system]
is set at IGNITION ON mode).

P: Parking, engine starting and

R: Reverse
N: Neutral
D: Normal driving
(shifting into overdrive possible)
3: Engine braking
