PUSH BUTTON START FUNCTION
The engine can be started by pressing the
"ENGINE START STOP" switch.
Before starting the engine, be sure to fol-
low the instructions in "(a) Before crank-
ing".

Normal starting procedure
Gasoline engine—The multiport fuel injec-
tion system/sequential multiport fuel injec-
tion system in your engine automatically
controls the proper air−fuel mixture for
starting.
You can start a cold or hot engine as
follows:
Automatic transmission or Multidrive
models:
When the key is in the vehicle (on your
person), it is possible to start the engine.
1. Check that shift lever is in the "P"
position.
2. Depress the brake pedal firmly. (The
indicator light on the "ENGINE START
STOP" switch will turn green.)
3. Press the "ENGINE START STOP"
switch slowly and firmly. (When starting
the engine, continue depressing the
brake pedal until the engine is started.)
If the "ENGINE START STOP" switch indi-
cator light does not turn green, the engine
cannot be started.
Manual transmission models:
When the key is in the vehicle (on your
person), it is possible to start the engine.
1. Depress the clutch pedal firmly. (The
indicator light on the "ENGINE START
STOP" switch will turn green.)
2. Press the "ENGINE START STOP"
switch slowly and firmly. (When starting
the engine, continue depressing the
clutch pedal until
started.)
If the "ENGINE START STOP" switch indi-
cator light does not turn green, the engine
cannot be started.
