Setting Jumpers
The Terminal Server contains jumpers that you might want to set before you configure it and put
it into production. You can set the power out pin (not on the DB9 model) to a fixed 5V DC output
or to the external adapter output; this can range from 9-30V DC (the external adapter that is
shipped with the Terminal Server has a 12V DC output). By default, the power out pin is set to no
power. You can set the Terminal Server line termination to
you are using EIA-422/485.

To change the settings, do the following:

Unplug the Terminal Server from the electrical outlet and disconnect everything from the
box.

Open the case by unscrewing the two side screws, one on each side, and lifting off the top of
the case. You should see the following:

To change the power pin out, locate J4. For the fixed 5V DC output, jumper pins 1 and 2. For
the output to equal the external adapter input, jumper pins 2 and 3.

Close the Terminal Server case by replacing the case lid and the two screws. You can now
power it on with the new settings.
