Description
SIP protocols
The VCS supports SIP over UDP, TCP and TLS
and ports
transport protocols. Use the Mode and Port settings for
each protocol to configure whether or not incoming
and outgoing connections using that protocol are
supported, and if so, the ports on which the VCS listens
for such connections.
By default UDP is Off, and TCP and TLS are On. The
default ports are:
UDP port: 5060
n
TCP port: 5060
n
TLS port: 5061
n
TCP outbound
The range of ports the VCS uses when TCP and TLS
port start / end
connections are established. The default range is
25000 to 29999.
Session
The maximum time allowed between session refresh
refresh
requests for SIP calls. Default is 1800 seconds.
interval
Minimum
The minimum value the VCS will negotiate for the
session
session refresh interval for SIP calls. Default is 500
refresh
seconds.
interval
Require UDP
Controls whether the VCS requires the use of the
BFCP mode
com.tandberg.udp.bfcp extension for endpoints that
support it.
Require Duo
Controls whether the VCS requires the use of the
Video mode
com.tandberg.sdp.duo.enable extension for endpoints
that support it.
Registration controls section:
Standard
The method used to generate the SIP registration
registration
expiry period for standard registrations.
refresh
Maximum: uses the lesser of the configured Maximum
strategy
refresh value and the value requested in the
registration.
Variable: generates a random value between the
configured Minimum refresh value and the lesser of
the configured Maximum refresh value and the value
requested in the registration.
The default is Maximum.

Usage tips
At least one of the transport protocols
must be set to a Mode of On for SIP
functionality to be supported.
The range must be sufficient to
support all required concurrent
connections.
For further information see the
definition of Session-Expires in
4028.
For further information see the
definition of Min-SE header in
4028.
The default settings for these modes
are not supported by some neighbor
systems so make sure you select the
appropriate
zone profile
when
configuring zones.
The registration expiry period is the
period within which a SIP endpoint
must re-register to prevent its
registration expiring.
The Maximum setting uses the
requested value providing it is within
the specified maximum and minimum
ranges.
The Variable setting calculates a
random refresh period for each
registration (and re-registration)
request in an attempt to continually
spread the load. The VCS never
returns a value higher than what was
requested.
This applies only to endpoints
registered with the VCS. It does not
apply to endpoints whose
registrations are proxied through the
VCS.
