7 EXPRESSION  PEDALS  
7.1 Connecting  and  Calibrating    
Expression  pedals  allow  you  to  control  various  sound  settings  in  real  time  with  your  foot.  Classic  examples  include  
the  sweep  of  a  Wah,  Whammy  or  Volume  pedal.  Up  to  four  expression  pedals  may  be  connected  to  the  4  
Expression  Pedal  Jacks  of  the  MFC-­‐101  using  TRS  cables.  
Expression  pedals  must  be  calibrated  before  they  can  be  used:  
1.
Connect  an  expression  pedal  to  the  MFC-­‐101,  noting  its  jack  number.  
2.
Press  the  EDIT  footswitch  to  enter  EDIT  MODE.  
3.
Press  SETUP  footswitch  to  select  the  SETUP  menu.  
4.
Press  PAGE"  footswitch  14x  to  get  to  the  Expression  Pedal  Calibration  screen:

Press  the  INCR  or  DECR footswitches  to  select  XP1,  XP2,  XP3  or  XP4,  depending  on  which  jack  
the  pedal  in  question  is  connected  to.  
6.
Press  PARAMETER"  footswitch  to  select  the  Min  field.  
7.
Press  ENTER  and  move  the  pedal  all  the  way  to  the  HEEL  position.  
8.
Press  ENTER  to  save  this  value.  
9.
Press  PARAMETER"  footswitch  to  select  the  Max  field.  
10. Press  ENTER  and  move  the  pedal  all  the  way  to  the  TOE  position.  
11. Press  ENTER  to  save  this  value.  
12. Press  EXIT  to  finish,  or  press  PARAMETER"  to  return  to  the  first  cursor  position  and  to  select  
XP1,  XP2,  XP3  or  XP4  to  repeat  this  process  for  additional  pedals.  
7.2 Expression  Pedal  MIDI  Functions  
A  MIDI  function  must  be  assigned  to  every  Expression  Pedal  for  it  to  send  any  data.  Please  refer  to  the  manual  of  
your  product  for  more  information  the  various  functions  which  can  be  controlled  by  MIDI  Control  Change  
messages,  and  what  these  assignments  are  for  your  unit.      
Expression  Pedal  functions  may  be  set  globally,  as  follows,  or  individual  presets  can  be  programmed  with  overrides  
to  create  "one-­‐off"  pedal  setups  (see  section  Preset  Expression  Pedal  Settings,  on  p.  48).  
To  set  global  Expression  Pedal  functions,  use  the  following  process:
