2.1 Configuration

The different modes of operation and settings are programmed in the camera by an asynchronous
serial communications available through the Camera Link interface. The serial interface operates at
9600 baud. The default values are stored in an EEPROM, which is automatically read at power up.
The user can change the factory settings of the default values in the EEPROM to configure the
camera to the requirements of their own application. You can also save the set of default values to
a file over the asynchronous serial communications interface, or restore default settings saved in a
file to the EEPROM.
The configuration is most easily done with the PFRemote configuration tool shipped with the
camera. The PFRemote tool is explained in Chapter 3 on page 35.

2.2 Installation Overview

In order to set up your camera, you should take these steps:
1. Connect Camera Link™ cables from camera to framegrabber.
2. Connect power.
You must also set up the other components of your system, including light sources, framegrabbers,
camera mounts, heat sinks, host computers, optics, encoders, and so on.
See section 2.1 above for camera configuration information.
