    Getting started Introduction This UP416 is the console of a 4-line telephone system. It is expandable to a maximum of 15 UP406 desksets, a UP407 cordless handset and a VTech IS6100 cordless headset. Expanding your system requires you to connect and register each new device first (see pages 23 - 26 ).

    Method 1: Install the console as a system telephone You must install and set up the UP416 console first before expanding your system with UP406 deskset, UP407 cordless handset or IS6100 cordless headset. Make sure you connect the console and all desksets to the Ethernet network.

    Getting started Planning your system Use the existing Ethernet wall jack: Use the PC port on the console as an Internet pass-through. Unplug your Ethernet cable of your computer from the existing Ethernet wall jack. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port ( ) at the back of the console and the other end into the Ethernet wall jack.

    You can register only one UP407 cordless handset and one VTech IS6100 cordless headset to a UP416 console or a UP406 deskset. For optimal performance, make sure you do not register more than five cordless accessories. More cordless accessories still work, but you might experience degradation in various performances.

    Getting started Wall mount installation To mount the console on the wall Unplug the power adapter from the outlet, the telephone line cords from the wall jacks (or DSL filters), and the Ethernet cable from the Ethernet switch or router. Put the corded handset aside.
