Replacing Engine Coolant

To conserve the environment, properly dispose of used engine
coolant.
Replace the engine coolant at the specified intervals of every 40,000 km or 2
years, whichever comes first. Use the following procedure to change the engine
coolant:
1.
Change the coolant only when the cooling system has cooled sufficiently
(approximately two hours after vehicle use). The engine crankcase and
coolant reservoir cap must cool enough to touch before adding coolant.
2.
Place the vehicle in neutral and apply the parking brake.
3.
Remove the coolant reservoir cap.
4.
Place a suitable container underneath the radiator coolant drain plug. The
container must be able to hold a minimum of 8 litres.
5.
Remove the drain plug, 1, for the radiator and drain the engine coolant into
the container.
6.
Remove the fasteners securing the engine coolant reservoir to the holder.
Remove the reservoir from the holder and drain.
7.
Reverse flush the radiator with clean water (flushing from the radiator drain
to reservoir bottle).
8.
Secure the reservoir to holder with the fasteners removed previously.
9.
Fill the coolant reservoir up to the 'MAX' mark with approved pre-mixed
50/50 coolant; check for leaks while filling the reservoir.
10.
Start the engine and allow air to evacuate the cooling system.
11.
Refill the engine coolant reservoir to the 'MAX' mark and replace the
reservoir cap.
