Protecting the Environment

Tata Motors Limited is committed to producing cars using environmental friendly
technology. Tata Motors Limited has incorporated a number of features into
our passenger vehicles that are specifically designed to ensure environmental
compatibility throughout the life cycle of the vehicle. Tata Motors Limited
would like to inform you that your car meets emission norms and has been
regularly validated at the manufacturing stages to keep up with the stringent
emission norms.
As a user, you too may protect the environment by operating your vehicle in
a proactive manner. Emissions, fuel consumption, and other factors depend
on driving style and vehicle maintenance. The following list provides tips for
protecting the environment:
While Driving:
Follow all fuel economy tips as described in this section of the manual.
Monitor the car's fuel consumption regularly. If records indicate high or
rising fuel consumption; take the vehicle to an authorised service center
for attention. This manual provides a sample fuel economy log.
Maintenance Of The Car :
Ensure that recommended maintenance is carried out on the car regularly at the
Tata Motors Limited Authorised Service Outlets.
As soon as any leakage of oil or fuel in the car is noticed, repair the
leakage immediately.
Use only recommended brands and grades of fluids in the vehicle.
Have an authorised dealer periodically check the vehicle emissions and
renew the Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate.
Ensure that fuel filter, oil filter, air filter and other parts are periodically
checked and, if required, replaced using only genuine parts.

STARTING & DRIVING – Protecting the Environment
Do not pour used oils or coolants into sewage drains,
garden soil, or open streams. Dispose of used filters
and depleted batteries in compliance with current
legislation.
Never allow any unauthorised person to tamper with
the engine settings or to carry out modifications on
the car.
Vacuum clean parts creating dust such as the brake
lining and the clutch disc. Do not use compressed
air for cleaning as this spreads the toxic dust into the
atmosphere.
While carrying out the servicing or repairs of your car, you
should pay keen attention to some of the important engine
components that greatly affect emissions. These components
are as follows:
Fuel injection pump, Injectors/Nozzles.
Air intake & Exhaust system especially for leakage.
Cylinder head for valve leakage.
All filters such as air, oil & fuel filters (check
periodically).
Catalytic converter.
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.
