MAINTENANCE AND CARE – Clutch Adjustment

CLUTCH ADjUSTMENT

As the clutch wears, the cable actuating the clutch will require adjustment.
Check clutch adjustment and inspect the clutch cable every 10,000 km. The
clutch pedal will rise as the clutch disc wears. When properly adjusted, the
clutch pedal will be at the same height as the brake pedal.
Use the following procedure to adjust the clutch cable:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and place in neutral. Engage the
parking brake.
2. Raise the bonnet and locate the clutch cable holder on the transaxle
housing.
3. Push on the clutch release lever, 1, to relieve pressure on the clutch cable
adjusting nut, 2.

4. Tighten the adjusting nut so that the clutch pedal is even with the brake
pedal.
Do not drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal. Doing so will
shorten the life of the clutch.
