STARTING & DRIVING – Driving Safely

DRIVING SAFELY

Operating a vehicle is a great responsibility. Unsafe driving practices put your
life and the lives of others at risk. Tata Motors Limited values your safety and
hopes that you drive safe and arrive safe each time you operate your vehicle.
Seat Belts
Seat belts are life-saving devices designed to protect the operator and passengers
and reduce injury severity in the event of an accident. The driver and all
occupants should wear seat belts at all times while riding in the vehicle.

Vehicle Lights and Signals

4
Always use vehicle turn indicators to signal turns. Use head lamps whenever
conditions warrant, such as nighttime or during inclement weather. Use the
hazard warning signals to alert other drivers if your vehicle becomes disabled or
is parked in a vulnerable position.
Avoid Drugs and Alcohol

Drugs and Alcohol

Drugs and alcohol severely impair the ability and judgement of anyone operating
a vehicle and greatly increase the risk of an accident. Avoid driving under the
influence of alcohol and drugs.

Mobile Phones

The operator should refrain from using mobile phones while operating the
vehicle. Using a mobile phone while driving diverts the operator's attention
from driving responsibilities, increasing the risk of causing an accident.

Driver Fatigue - 'Rest, Revive, Survive'

Do not attempt to drive while feeling tired or sleepy. Long drives will cause
fatigue, increasing reflex reaction time and affecting judgement. Switch drivers
and/or take a ten minute break from driving every two hours or less.
