EMERGENCY SERVICE – Towing
VEHICLE TOWING
•
The tow hook is meant for vehicle recovery or as a winching point for
a wrecker. Do not use the tow hook to tow the vehicle on the road.
Loss of vehicle control may occur, resulting in injury or damage to
both vehicles.
•
Do not connect a tow rope or chain to any other point on the vehicle
other than the tow hook. Damage to the vehicle may result.
•
Do not attempt to pull-start the vehicle.
The tool kit contains a tow hook that threads into tow points on the front and rear
of the vehicle. The tow hook is meant to serve as point for vehicle recovery (i.e.
a vehicle stuck in deep mud or snow) or as a winching point for the wreck when
the vehicle becomes disabled.
6
To access the rear tow point, a small cover must be removed from the bumper.
Use the following tips when towing the vehicle:
•
Use a wrecker to move/transport a disabled vehicle. A rigid tow bar can
be used if a wrecker is unavailable; provided the wheels on the vehicle
are able to rotate.
•
Switch the hazard warning signals 'ON' when towing the vehicle.
•
If possible (without causing damage), run the engine to provide steering
and brake assist.
•
Remove the tow hook and place back in the tool kit when the hook is no
longer needed.
•
Use only a chain or rope designated for vehicle recovery when towing a
stuck vehicle.
