Verify the nominal voltage of both batteries is the same (12
VDC).
4.
Connect the positive (+) jumper lead to the positive (+) terminal
of battery in the discharged car and then to the positive (+) lead
of the battery providing the boost.
5.
Connect the negative (-) jumper lead to a ground (earth) point
on the vehicle providing the boost.
6.
Connect the remain negative (-) jumper lead to a ground (earth)
point on the vehicle with the discharged battery. Connect the
lead as close to the vehicle starter as possible; do not connect
the jumper lead to the negative (-) battery terminal!
7.
Route the leads away from moving parts in the engine
compartment.
8.
Start the engine of the vehicle providing the boost. Wait one
minute before attempting to start the vehicle with the discharged
battery.
9.
Attempts to start the vehicle with the discharged battery should
be made at one minute intervals, for no longer than fifteen
seconds (15 s) at a time.
10.
Once the vehicle with the discharged battery has started, wait
three (3) minutes before disconnecting the jumper leads.
