Pro Audio 9 has many important new features to make your work easier
and more productive. This appendix highlights the major differences
between version 9 and version 8.
AudioX Window
Pro Audio 9 has a new window that lists any of your sound cards that
conform to the new AudioX standard (such as the Yamaha DSP Factory).
AudioX is a standard that allows sound card producers to write software
that makes all of their cardÕs features fully available, and will easily
work with any recording software that supports the AudioX standard. To
open Pro AudioÕs AudioX window, choose View-AudioX. See the online
help or your soundcardÕs documentation for more information about
AudioX. AudioX appears in the View menu only if you have at least one
AudioX driver installed.
Reduced Audio Latency
Cakewalk continues to enhance Pro AudioÕs audio performance. Pro
Audio 9Õs latency Þgures compare favorably with those of all major audio
applications.
Piano Roll Supports Multiple Track Editing
Pro Audio 9Õs Piano Roll view can now display multiple tracks for
editing, and has a new Tracks List pane to control which tracks are
being edited and displayed. For more information, see ÒWorking with
Multiple Tracks in the Piano Roll ViewÓ on page 6-7
Stereo Tracks
Pro Audio 9 now allows you to store and process stereo audio data in a
single track. You can even put stereo audio data into tracks that contain
mono data.
