Download Character Set
It is possible to prepare, at will, other characters than those shown in
Figs. 3-2 through 3-5, for example, scientific symbols and other special
characters.
These characters are called "Download Characters".
Further, these "Download Characters" are utilized when only a portion
of the characters shown on list of character codes are desired to be
changed to other characters.
Up to 96 characters of the "Download Characters" are memorized by RAM
of printer.

Defining Hethod of Dmmload Characters
No character pattern is defined at the stage of power on, as the "Down-
load Characters" are to be initially memorized by
RA.'1
of printer.
When you define the "Download Character", character patterns are inputted
into the RAM after transmitting the "ESC
*
1" code, designating the position
to be written and decender data of these characters.
As setting of "Download Characters" can be possible up to the number of
8 pins (vertical) x 9 pins (horizontal), it is necessary, upon printing
these characters, to designate whether they are to be shifted by one dot
down or not.
When the decender data is "1", the download character is to be shifted by
one dot down.
When the decender data is "0", the download character is not shifted down.
Now, it is possible to keep writing the desired "Download Characters" by
continuously transmitting the character patterns.
(Note) When defining the characters, it is not possible to designate
dots located mutually next to each other.
Even if such dots are designated, they will automatically be
disregarded.
