To install the battery, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the replacement battery.
Step 2.
Insert the new battery:
1. Position the battery so that it is tilted slightly and the smaller side is facing the socket.
2. Place the battery into the socket towards the right side of the socket, press it down and slide it
to the left of the socket housing until it snaps firmly in place.

Step 3.
Install the side cover (see "Installing the side cover" on page 252).
Step 4.
Lock the side cover.
Step 5.
Reconnect the external cables and power cords; then, turn on the attached devices and turn on
the server.
Note: You must wait approximately 1 to 3 minutes after you connect the power cord of the server
to an electrical outlet before pressing the power-control button.
Step 6.
Start the Setup Utility and reset the configuration.
• Set the system date and time.
• Set the power-on password.
• Reconfigure the server.
See "Using the Setup Utility" on page 294 for details.

Removing and installing drives

Depending on the server model, the server might come with a SATA attached DVD-ROM drive in bay 1.
The following are illustrations of the server and the location of the drive bays. Your hardware might differ,
depending on the model.
The following illustration shows the location of the drive bays in the 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS or hot-swap
SATA hard disk drive server models.
