Installing a Clock Module into the Cisco MDS 9506 Director

Always wear an ESD wrist strap when handling modules or coming into contact with internal

components.
To install the clock module, follow these steps:
Step 1 Remove the new clock module from the antistatic bag.
Hold the module with the connector away from you and carefully press the module onto the backplane

Step 3 Replace the three securing screws on the clock module.
Grasp both power supply handles and slide the power supply into the power supply bay, ensuring that

the power supply is fully seated in the bay.
Step 5 Tighten the captive screws on the power supply to 8 in-lb.

Verify power supply operation by checking that the power supply LEDs are in the following states:

You must install the new clock module in the same position that you removed it.
In a system with dual power supplies, connect each power supply to a separate power source.
In case of a power source failure, the second source will most likely still be available.
INPUT OK LED is green.
FAN OK LED is green.
OUTPUT FAIL LED is off.
