Appendix A : Selecting Print Media
Use the Multi-purpose tray to print transparen-
cies, labels and envelopes, or use the optional
Envelope cassette to print envelopes. Fan
transparencies, labels and envelopes before
loading them into the Multi-purpose tray.
Additional Paper for Use in This Printer
In addition to the recommended paper, you may
also use generic paper as long as it meets the
printer paper specifications of size and weight (20
to 50 lbs). Try samples of the generic paper to
determine if the printer performance and print
quality are acceptable to you.
Paper and Print Media You Should
NOT Use in This Printer
Paper jams or poor print quality may result from
using print media that is not recommended for
use in this printer or from print media that is
damaged.
Do not use media with the following
characteristics.
• Paper that does not meet the size and weight
(20lb to 50lb) specifications of this printer
• Paper that is wrinkled, curled, torn, or bent
• Paper that is punched or perforated

• Paper that is wet
• Paper with a surface that is extremely smooth
or extremely shiny
• Paper that is extremely rough or heavily
textured
• Paper that is sticky or has an adhesive surface
• Paper that is pasted
• Thermal paper
• Coated paper
• Carbon paper
• Paper that is unable to withstand a
temperature of 302˚F.
• Paper that is stapled or clipped
• Paper that is labeled "NOT recommended for
use in laser printers"
• Label stock with the backing sheets exposed
between the individual labels
• Multiple copy perforated checks
