Operator Guide
A. UNIX security
Four accounts are defined for the UNIX environment:
1. root: The account that provides superuser access to the
workstation. The initial password is set during installation of
the operating system.
NOTE: For security reasons, the root password must be
changed as soon as Xerox service personnel have
completed the installation. The Xerox customer support
personnel must have root access to the DocuSP controller in
order to provide service and support. Either provide the root
password, or ensure that someone with root access is
available when service must be performed on the controller.
2. xrxusr: The account from which the DocuSP software runs.
The default password for this account is xrx123.
3. ftp: An account to permit the retrieval of some client software
from the DocuSP controller using the TCP/IP communication
protocol. This account permits anonymous ftp and does not
require a password. The base directory for ftp is set to the
directory containing the client software.
4. Pxrxsvc: The account for remote diagnostics access for use
by Xerox service personnel. The DocuSP controller is
accessed via modem.
One new group, xrxgrp, is defined to access the DocuSP
software.
NOTE: The user and group identifications, uid and gid, that are
listed above cannot be changed in the password and group files
because the ability of the software to run properly is based on
the proper access to the Xerox supplied files.
