Installing Additional
Drives
4-20
Upgrading the Compaq Deskpro EN Series, Desktop Model
16. Reconfigure the computer, if necessary. Refer Appendix B,
"Computer Setup Utilities," for instructions about using
Computer Setup.
If you normally lock the Smart Cover Lock, use Computer
Setup to relock the lock and enable the Smart Cover
Sensor.
When installing additional drives, follow these guidelines:
Use the green pull tabs to disconnect the diskette and
hard drive cables from the drives.
For optimal performance, connect hard drives to the
primary IDE controller. Connect expansion devices,
such as IDE CD-ROM, tape, and diskette drives to the
secondary controller.
You may install either a third-height or a half-height
drive into a half-height bay.
You must install guide screws to ensure the drive will
line up correctly in the drive cage. Compaq has
provided extra guide screws, installed in the front of the
computer chassis, under the front bezel. Some options
use M3 metric thread hardware. The Compaq-supplied
metric screws are black.
