Anodes

ANODE (stern bracket)
ANODE (each side)
The anodes are made of a
sacrificial material that helps to
protect the outboard motor from
corrosion.
There are three anodes on the
gear case, one on the stern
bracket (P.111).

Additional anodes are located
inside the engine and should be
serviced by an authorized Honda
Marine servicing dealer according
to the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
(P.88).
NOTICE
• Painting or coating the
anodes will defeat their
purpose and will lead to rust
and corrosion damage to the
ANODE
outboard motor. The anodes
must be exposed to the
water in order to protect the
outboard motor.

Fuel Priming Bulb

INLET END (tank side)
A priming bulb is built into the
fuel hose that connects the fuel
tank to the outboard motor.
Before starting the engine, hold
the priming bulb up in the
direction of the arrow; then
squeeze the priming bulb until it
feels firm. This will ensure that
fuel is supplied to the engine (P.
56).
