The anodes are made of a sacrificial
material that helps to protect the
outboard motor from corrosion.
There are two anodes on the gear
case, one on the stern bracket and two
small anodes in the water passages of
the engine block.

PRIMING BULB
INLET END (tank side)
A priming bulb is built into the fuel
hose that connects the fuel tank to the
outboard motor.
Before starting the engine, hold the
priming bulb up in the direction of the
arrow; then squeeze the priming bulb
until it feels firm. This will ensure
that fuel is supplied to the engine
(p. 62).
Battery Switch OFF Notification
This function alerts the operator that
the battery switch is OFF and must be
turned to the ON position. If the
battery switch is OFF, a buzzer will
sound three times during the
following situations.
• When starting the engine
• When using the power trim/tilt
switch
• When turning the battery switch
OFF while the ignition switch or
power switch is ON
