Failure functions are started by certain events and lead to a defined action of the
controls or the actuator. A failure operation can be initiated by a manual action. In
general, a failure operation is automatically started by a fault signal from a monitoring
function (e.g. loss of signal).
The safety parameters can be used to define how the integral controls will react on
signal loss or in presence of a faulty signal.
Safety parameters only react on signal loss in operation mode REMOTE
reaction is detected in operation modes LOCAL
Actuators with Profibus DP or Profinet interface:
On loss of bus communication, failure operation can only be initiated if the watchdog
function is activated in the master.
As soon as the cause for initiating the safety parameters is eliminated (connection
restored, master in Operate state), the operation commands from the master can
be executed again at once.
For further information, refer to the Manual (Device integration) TIGRON Profibus
DP, "Connection monitoring of the Profibus DP communication" chapter.
Actuators with Modbus RTU interface:
As soon as the cause for initiating the failure function is eliminated (connection
restored), the operation commands from the master can be executed again at once.
The last received operation command is deleted once the connection is aborted. To
ensure a defined behaviour, a valid operation command must be transmitted to the
actuator upon resuming communication.
Required user level: Specialist (4) or higher.
Customer settings M0041
Safety/EMCY parameters M2183
Failure/EMCY tripping M2184
Default value: Good signal first
Setting values:
The failure behaviour is only initiated if the monitored signal fails (falling signal edge).
This setting ensures that if the signal is missing, the actuator will not start when
switching on (Good signal first).
The failure behaviour is immediately initiated if the monitored signal fails (not
available).
For the setting Immediately active:
Risk of immediate actuator operation when switching on!
Risk of personal injuries or damage to the valve.
→ Ensure that the signal set under parameter Source M2242 is present when
switching on.
→ Actuators with Combi-Switch: If the actuator starts unexpectedly, immediately
turn selector switch to position LOCAL or OFF.
→ Actuators with magnetic pen control panel: If the actuator starts unexpectedly,
immediately tap OFF with the magnetic pen.
